Upcoming Debate and Speakers in New York, Minnesota, and DC

You are invited to join NAS's affiliates at three upcoming events this spring. 

Brooklyn Heights, New York

On Wednesday, March 28, Ibn Warraq, Paul Berman, Sohrab Ahmari, and Fred Siegel will debate "Is the West best?" The debate is sponsored by the New York Association of Scholars, St. Francis College, Telos Press, and Encounter Books. It wil take place at St. Francis College in Brooklyn at 7:00PM. The debate is inspired by Ibn Warraq's new book, Why the West is Best.

On Wednesday, April 18, the Minnesota Association of Scholars will hold its annual banquet, co-sponsored with Intellectual Takeout. The keynote speaker is Nile Gardiner, Director of the Heritage Foundation's Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom, and a former Foreign Policy Researcher for Lady Margaret Thatcher. He will speak on the subject "Whither Europe? The Decline and Fall of the European Project." 

Date: Wednesday, April 18, 2012. 
Time: Reception is at 6 p.m. and dinner is at 6:45 p.m.

 

Cost: $35/ Adult, $15/Student (both prices include dinner, adult pricing includes a membership to MAS)

On Monday, April 23, Hadley Arkes will speak at a meeting of the D.C. affiliate of the NAS, on the topic 'Teaching the American Founders and Lincoln on “Natural Rights': Why Such a Resistance in the Academy?"
