This Week in Science: May 1, 2025

National Association of Scholars

The National Association of Scholars has launched a new podcast, featuring Scott Turner, our Director of Science Programs, where he will cover topics that strike his fancy this week in the world of science. Watch for us every week.

In this first episode, we look at two articles published in the May 1, 2025 issue of Science magazine. In the first article, we look at the resignation of "Punch" Panchanathan from his directorship of the National Science Foundation. President Trump, and his evil henchman Elon Musk were demanding cuts in "woke" grants the Panchanathan found too much to stomach.

The second article concerns the forced departure of a star ecologist from the ETH in Zurich, Switzerland. He was forced out due to bogus allegations of a toxic atmosphere in lab. He was too concerned with the "wrong" kind of diversity, it seems: biodiversity.
