NAS Leaders Speaking at Upcoming Conferences

On Friday, January 30, NAS president Peter Wood will speak at the Educational Policy Conference in St. Louis, MO. He will participate in a panel, “Deconstructing Bad Education and Common Core,” along with Jane Robbins and Don Warren. Peter Wood is author with Manhattan Institute Senior Fellow Sol Stern of a double-sided book, Common Core: Yea or Nay, which offers Stern’s case for the Common Core on one side and Peter Wood’s argument against it on the other side.

On Tuesday, February 10, NAS executive director Ashley Thorne will present on freshman summer reading at the Annual Conference on the First Year Experience (FYE). Her session, "Reasons to Read: Trends and Traps in Common Reading Programs," is one of 18 presentations on common reading at the FYE conference. Ashley Thorne is co-author of an annual study on college common reading programs titled Beach Books: What Do Colleges and Universities Want Students to Read Outside Class?
