Educational Malpractice Abounding

George Leef

That's the title of my latest essay for SeeThru.Edu. In it, I discuss the implications of a recent L.A. Times piece about a pitiable black student who was given straight As in high school and thus was eligible for admission to UC Berkeley. Unfortunately, the kid was in way over his head academically and almost flunked out, saved only by an A- in his African American Studies course. The hapless student was let down by his high school (where he never learned to write) and then by the diversity mania that made him an automatic admit at an elite university where he was obviously mismatched.
