Video: Peter Wood Talks About Anger on MSNBC

Peter Wood

NAS President Peter Wood appeared on MSNBC on Monday along with panelists Frank Keating, the former governor of Oklahoma, and Kevin Jackson, author of The Big Black Lie. The topic was anger in America on the anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing. The host, Donny Deutsch, wanted the panelists to explain that anger in America is greater now than ever, and that anti-government anger leads to acts of domestic terrorism like the Oklahoma City bombing. But each panelist disagreed with this proposition. Click on the video below to watch.

Donny Deutsch: Peter Wood, you talk about new anger and old anger. The old anger was the days of almost angry, Gary Cooper-type angry was not masculine, was not the way, you didn't show the anger, you kinda kept it inside. And now, jubilant anger, in-your-face anger, self-serving anger is in vogue. Doesn't that lead to potentially a lot more Oklahoma Cities than what Keating is saying, than any other point in time?

Peter Wood: No, I don't think so. I think that Governor Keating is right, that explosions of anger into violence have always happened, but anger itself doesn't necessarily lead to violence, and this exuberant kind of anger now where it feels good, be angry, and tearing off verbally at other people doesn't necessarily mean we're going to start blowing up more buildings.
