NAS Board Member Candace de Russy Receives Educator of the Year Award

Ashley Thorne

NAS is pleased to announce that on February 14 at the 135th Anniversary Lincoln Dinner sponsored by the Queens Village Republican Club, NAS board member Candace de Russy received the Educator of the Year Award. This is a well-deserved honor and we are proud that Dr. de Russy's years of work received this recognition. The Democracy Project said it best:

Former State University of New York Trustee, Dr. Candace de Russy will be receiving the Educator of the Year Award, at the Lincoln Dinner sponsored by the Queens Village Republican Club, the oldest GOP Club in America. The Club has a proud tradition of annual Lincoln Dinners and presentation of awards for outstanding accomplishment for the future of education. In past years, honorees were Hon. Herman BadilloDr. Sharad Karkhanis and Professor Gerald Matacotta.

Often the only dissenting voice on the SUNY board of trustees happy to keep the status quo, Dr. de Russy has led the academic reform movement fighting to take back our schools from the radical departure from higher standards and academic principles our colleges and universities once upheld. De Russy, scholar and former professor, is a nationally recognized writer and lecturer on education and cultural issues who has been featured and published in New York Post, New York Times, Village Voice, Family Security Matters, and numerous media and appeared on 60 Minutes, The O’Reilly Factor and C-SPAN.

Political indoctrination in the classroom has become the status quo, often promoting an agenda inconsistent with the founding principles of America. For decades we watched the 5th column of white radicals, Black Panthers, communists, kooks and leftists of every persuasion march into America’s classrooms and administrative offices and “liberate” them in order to sabotage our nation and lower the bar academically. We now see the result in a body of ruling elites out of touch with the original greatness and uniqueness of America. De Russy has been incessantly fighting to bring back this American greatness and exceptionalism to our classrooms in order to secure the future of our nation.
